WK 11 – ACTIVITY – Sculpting

This week’s activity was a “choose your own” activity, so I decided to take this opportunity to try my hand at sculpting. I am predominately a 2D artist, so I have never really sculpted before. I went to Michael’s and bought myself some clay and decided to make a small sculpture of a mermaid. It took me about 20 hours total to make, but in the end i think the result was worth it. Sculpting was more difficult than i thought it would be, because I had to focus on all parts of the body, not just the ones revealed on the paper. Overall, though, I think I’m going to continue sculpting, and trying to get better and better at it.tumblr_n9nm55FJJ21rghwodo4_1280 tumblr_n9nm55FJJ21rghwodo2_1280 tumblr_n9nm55FJJ21rghwodo3_1280 tumblr_n9nm55FJJ21rghwodo1_400

For my death, I chose car crash because I’m pretty sure that that’s the most likely way I’m going to die. I asked my friend’s family to surround me, as if they had seen my death occur and were concerned.

The experience itself was quite interesting as well; pretending to be dead really made me wonder how people would react if i were to actually died. Overall, this project was pretty fun for me to do, and it really opened up my mind as to what other people might think of me, and how much they would care if i died.

WK 8 – Activity – eportfolio

This week’s project was to customize our website even more, and to make it more presentable to anyone who would like to view mine.

I made mine more my own website by adding a link to my art blog, as well as creating my own “about me” page. I changed my theme too, so it looks less boring and more interesting to the eye to look at.

Overall, I think my blog is more appealing now, and i look forward to building upon it later on to make it more of a portfolio and less of a “turn in your homework” blog.

Wk 7 – Activity – Painting

This week’s activity required us to create a painting of our own to better understand the craft. Specifically, the activity was to write our name in bubble-style letters using two or more colors of spray paint onto a piece of cardboard, like this:

While at first I thought I would have trouble in making my bubble letters look right, it turned out to be easier than I had originally thought it would be. My friend was kind enough to offer me the use of her backyard and cardboard, as well as her spraypaint, in the completion of this project.

What I took away from this experience is that painting, especially spray painting, is quite an enjoyable activity. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I just might expand my painting material list, which now includes watercolor, oil, and acrylic paint, to include spray paint.
