This week I experienced the work of artist Scott Burns, who specializes in ceramics. He creates figures with almost comically out of proportion body parts, saying that his artwork is almost inexplicable, that it is something to be experienced, not explained.
Through ceramics, he explores and stretches the boundaries of the human figure, thus feeding his own desire to make art while at the same time creating it for others to enjoy, and to experience his vision. While Burns had little to say about his pieces, he did indicate that his work is open to interpretation by the viewer.
Overall, I must say that Burns’ pieces struck me as unusual and creative in their figures almost cartoonish proportions, and I would like to see some more of his work as he creates it.
